🎯 1. Discover the Most Effective Blocks
Here are some blocks that you’ll use frequently:
- Paragraph
- Heading (H1–H6)
- Image / Gallery
- Columns
- Buttons
- Spacer
- Group / Cover / Container
- Reusable Block
- Patterns & Templates
⚡ 2. Use “/” to insert blocks quickly.
Instead of clicking on the “+” icon:
- Type /, and then begin typing the block name.
Examples: /image, /button, and /columns.
This significantly reduces editing time.
🎨 3. Customize block styles (globally and per block)
You can do:
Change the font, color, spacing, and border radius.
Apply consistent styles with Global Styles (Site Editor > Styles).
Save your favorite styles as blocks or patterns.
🧱 4. Use Group, Stack, and Row Blocks for Layouts.
These container bricks let you design structure.
- Group = wrapper (holds things together).
- Row means side-by-side configuration.
- Stack denotes a vertical pattern with spacing control.
- Columns equal multi-column layouts.
🔁 5. Use patterns (block templates) to save time.
Patterns are pre-made layouts that can be reused.
- Use built-in WordPress patterns, such as hero sections, CTAs, and pricing tables.
- Save your own personalized patterns for future use!
- Insert them with one click.
♻️ 6. Create reusable blocks for global content.
Ideal for content repeated across numerous pages:
- Email sign-up form
- Promotional message
- Disclaimer
When you update it once, it immediately updates everywhere.
📐 7. Control spacing with a spacer or padding.
To avoid clutter or objects that touch:
- Add a Spacer block to create purposeful white space.
- Use block padding and margin in the sidebar.
Clean space equals excellent design!
📱 8. Make it mobile friendly.
Some blocks (columns, groups, and rows) allow:
- Different alignment for each device.
- Stack columns on mobile.
- Adjust font sizes for tablets and mobile devices.
Always preview on mobile before publishing.
⌨️ 9. Use keyboard shortcuts.
- Ctrl + Shift + D: Duplicate block.
- Ctrl + Alt + T / Y: Move block up or down.
- /blockname: Add block
- Shift + Enter = Line break without a new paragraph.
🔍 10. Use the List View to navigate and organize.
Click the List View (three horizontal lines) in the top-left.
- View all blocks in a tree structure.
- You can effortlessly drag and drop blocks.
- Choose deeply nested blocks.
Perfect for intricate layouts!
🎭 11. Use Cover Blocks for Beautiful Sections
The cover block allows you to add:
- Full-width photos and videos
- Overlay color.
- Text over image.
- Parallax effects
Ideal for hero headers and section titles.
💡 12. Transform blocks instead of rebuilding.
Need to swap block types?
- Click Block > Transform.
- Example: paragraph → heading
- List -> Buttons
Saves time!
🗂 13. Lock important blocks.
To prevent unintentional edits:
- Locking a block in the sidebar prevents it from being moved or deleted.

✔ Create your favorite page layout and save it as a template or pattern.
